Three Thread
Three Thread is a free improvisation trio exploring sound and rhythmic synthesis beyond the boundaries of genre and tradition. The group features pianist Naomi Nakanishi, tap dancer Melissa Almaguer, and saxophonist Jonathan Reisin, three distinct voices united by a shared curiosity for collaboration and sound exploration. Their debut album, Three Thread, was recorded during a weeklong residency at Looking Glass Arts in upstate New York. Immersed in the acoustics of a barn and the surrounding landscape, the trio set out to let the residency itself enter the music, allowing the sounds, textures, and atmosphere of the place to guide their improvisations. Through the use of new instruments, electronic sounds, expanded techniques, and a heightened sense of listening, Three Thread discovered new ways of communication and expression, creating music that feels raw yet intentional, and deeply connected to the environment.
